Service Quality Improvement with Cost Reductions Case Study

Safety management

Following the King's Cross fire in 1988 London Underground embarked upon the largest safety overhaul in the history of the network. All lines were re-established as separate business units and had to set up a new organization, leading the introduction of safety management systems and improved customer focus. This challenge had to be met with no interruption to daily train services and station facilities in spite of unprecedented engineering work to install new fire protection systems and the introduction of tough new fire regulations. Fifth Dimension's consultants are proud to have been part of those London Underground top teams, helping to change behaviours to make the system a safer place, leading the processes to achieve international safety management level 3, and helping to introduce other behavioural changes to deliver enhanced train and station services.
